This groups is held on the second Tuesday in each month at 6.30pm . Membership is £6 a year, but visitors are welcome free of charge. Rastrick Local History Group was set up when the library re-opened after its refurbishment in 2009 and it was suggested that plans should be made to celebrate its Centenary on 22nd November 2012. Those celebrations were enjoyable and generally thought to be a great success, so the Group was encouraged to continue with further projects. There are now around 10 active members, although many more people have helped with our investigations. We are predominantly a research group and hope eventually to publish our findings; in the meantime most of our research about Rastrick is available in the library.
The Group has an ongoing programme of displays in the library. These feature various aspects of Rastrick's history and are changed about every six weeks. Visitors to the library have been helpful in identifying some people and places pictured. An archive is steadily being built up and some interesting material has been discovered about Rastrick and its people. We welcome any information, however trivial it may seem, from present and past Rastrick residents and new members or potential members are always welcome to join the group.
