Thanks to the grant from Rastrick Big Local to the Friends of Rastrick Library, Calderdale Council agreed to construct a ramp which will make our library accessible to many more people.
Plans were drawn up based on the Friends’ proposals. Planning permission and listed building consent were granted in autumn 2018 and the work put out to tender in early 2019.
At last, the plans are coming to fruition. The contract has been allocated and work is expected to start around early June. It is anticipated that it will take 8-10 weeks. While there will inevitably be some disruption to the working of the library, it is intended to keep normal opening hours and no extra closure is expected.

We are a group set up to encourage the local community to make the best use of the library and its facilities and resources. We are working towards improving the disabled access into the Grade II Listed Building, by fundraising and organising events.
